Security Camera & Alarm System FAQs

Straight answers about how HomeCam security systems work, what they cost, and how they compare to a traditional monitored alarm contract. Serving Arizona, California and Nevada.

Questions homeowners ask us most

What makes HomeCam Security different from ADT, Brinks, or Vivint?

With HomeCam Security, you own your camera system. You're investing in security equipment for your home rather than simply paying indefinitely for cameras you don't own.

HomeCam also focuses on building a complete security system around your property, rather than simply installing a standard alarm package.

Depending on your system, that can include:

  • 24/7 video recording
  • AI-powered cameras
  • Perimeter detection
  • Active deterrence
  • Smart-home integration
  • Professional monitoring

Our goal is to help you detect and deter potential threats before they reach your home — while giving you ownership and control of the technology protecting your property.

Can HomeCam upgrade my existing security system?

Yes. Many of our customers already have an existing security system.

We'll evaluate your current equipment and determine what can potentially be kept, upgraded, or replaced. You may not need to start over with an entirely new system.

Why should I upgrade if my current security system still works?

A security system can still "work" while having significant gaps in protection.

Older systems may have limited camera coverage, blind spots, outdated technology, unreliable notifications, or cameras that only capture short event clips.

HomeCam evaluates how well your current system actually protects your property and shows you where newer technology could improve it.

What happens during a HomeCam Security Assessment?

We'll evaluate your home's current security setup and identify areas where protection could potentially be improved.

The assessment can include:

  • Existing security equipment
  • Camera coverage and blind spots
  • Entry-point protection
  • Perimeter coverage
  • Recording capabilities
  • Smart-home integration
  • Equipment age and condition

We'll then explain your options and recommendations. There's no obligation to purchase.

Can your cameras help prevent a break-in instead of just recording it?

Certain HomeCam camera systems are designed to do much more than simply record video.

Depending on the equipment selected, features can include intelligent person and vehicle detection, automatic tracking, instant notifications, lights, audible warnings, and other active-deterrence features.

The idea is to create an active perimeter around your property, rather than only having footage to review afterward.

Do HomeCam cameras record 24/7?

Yes. We offer camera systems capable of continuous 24/7 local recording through an NVR.

That means you can review what happened before, during, and after an event, instead of relying exclusively on short motion-triggered recordings.

Storage capacity and recording duration depend on your system configuration.

Can I see and control my security system from my phone?

Yes. Compatible HomeCam systems allow you to view live cameras, review recorded footage, receive security notifications, and manage supported security and smart-home features directly from your smartphone.

Your security system goes wherever you go.

Do I have to replace all of my existing security equipment?

Not necessarily. Before recommending new equipment, we'll review what you already have and determine what may be worth keeping.

Our goal isn't to replace equipment simply for the sake of replacing it. It's to build the right security setup for your property.

How much does a HomeCam Security system cost?

Every HomeCam system is customized, so pricing depends on your home's needs, the equipment selected, installation requirements, and the level of protection you choose.

We'll review your options and provide clear pricing before any installation takes place.

Do you offer financing or monthly payment options?

Yes. Financing options may be available to qualified customers.

This can allow you to upgrade your home's security and smart-home technology while spreading the cost over affordable monthly payments rather than paying for the entire system upfront.

Terms, rates, and approvals vary based on the financing option and applicant qualifications.

Do you install Eufy security camera systems?

Yes. Eufy is one of the systems we install most often, and it suits homeowners who don't want a monthly cloud subscription — footage records locally rather than to a paid plan.

We handle the whole install: camera placement, mounting, wiring, recorder setup, and configuring the app on your phone.

If you already own Eufy equipment, we can install and configure what you have rather than selling you new hardware.

What areas do you install security cameras in?

HomeCam installs and services security camera and alarm systems across Arizona, California, and Nevada.

  • Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale and Peoria
